Stage structuralist poet

We know few artists that for them theater has become something like searching, discovering and inventing beyond usual observing  rules and regulations of the stage. Meanwhile, we may not have the few people who can be sure that this work belongs to them by watching a few minutes of their performance or reading a few lines of their writings. Jalal Tehrani is undoubtedly one of these people.

Jalal Tehrani Theater is a unique effort to reach the language and create atmosphere through it on the stage. Just like a poet who creates his poetic castle with words, Tehrani starts with words and their combinations, and then he builds his work on the basis of different and structural combinations of these words. The characters of his shows are standing in a nowhere where language has lost its function to create a connection between them and this detachment from the daily course of life has given them an aura of fantasy and mystery. While watching performances such as Hey Big Guy, Don't Cry, The Tank, Single Cells, Listen to the sound of Earth, and this last one, Cinderella, we stepped into a maze. A labyrinth whose walls are created from the birth and multiplication and flow of words and sounds. Jalal Tehrani has a strange ability to transform the invisible into a visible and tangible world, and few audiences can free themselves from the scope of his creations after entering the world of his works. He moves from word to sentence, from sentence to action, and finally to mise-en-scène. This imaginary world, with the lights that shine from the sides of the stage, the designed poses of the actors and with the highly abstract stage architecture, evokes a sense of stepping into a nightmare world that tries, through its poetic perspective, to understand and To express the concept of human and the world.

But Jalal Tehrani is not only a director; He is meant for those who take steps in the path of learning and knowing. The formation and establishment of the MaktabeTehran, and the training of young forces, has made him a person who is very busy with training and education. He goes to continue his search and discovery and revelation somewhere outside the scene.

Among the unique persons of Iranian theater, Jalal Tehrani is the structuralist stage poet who will always remain.
